The Ophthalmology Clinic as part of our Center deals with comprehensive diagnostics and treatment of eye diseases.

In other words, intravitreal injections are injections into the inside of the eyeball, and more precisely into the vitreous chamber. Some drugs are administered in this way so that their penetration into the retina and the choroid of the eye is better and faster. The procedure is simple, short and painless. Intravitreal administration of the drug is performed using aseptic techniques with a very fine needle. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

The drug is administered with a very thin needle directly into the eyeball, i.e. intravitreal, under local anesthesia, using the principles of asepsis. The procedure is not painful. Initially, treatment is a series of 2-3 injections approximately every 4 weeks. Subsequent injections are given at a frequency depending on the patient’s response to the drug, when disease activity continues or returns.

Qualification for the procedure takes place during consultations at the Ophthalmology Clinic on the basis of the OCT or AF results.

On the day of surgery, the patient reports to the Registration with a complete set of documents.

The patient comes home with an eye patch, which should be left on until the next day. For the next 4 days after the procedure, the antibiotic recommended by the doctor should be instilled several times a day. After the procedure, the eye may be slightly red and more sensitive for a few days. It is recommended to avoid heavy physical exertion, avoid strong wind, dust, dust, saunas, swimming pools for a week. Do not rub or press the eye.

Approximately 1-2 months after the injection, it is recommended to perform an OCT examination in order to assess the effects of treatment and indications for the next injection.

In the event of disturbing symptoms (e.g. increasing eye pain, deterioration of vision, progressive redness of the eye, photosensitivity), you should immediately see an ophthalmologist without waiting for a follow-up visit.
