As part of the Pediatric Surgery Clinic, we qualify for procedures performed as part of the 1st Day Surgery Clinic, in which operated children leave the hospital a few hours after the surgery.
The lingual frenulum is a fibrous structure that connects the lower part of the tongue to the floor of the mouth. It consists of the mucosa and soft tissues.
In children, excision of the frenulum of the tongue is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure is performed during one day surgery. After the shortened frenulum is excised and the bleeding is under control, soluble sutures are applied to the mucosa of the sublingual area. The duration of the procedure is approximately 20 minutes.
Before the procedure, the child must be healthy. Necessary examinations and specialist consultations should be performed. She must be on an empty stomach on the day of surgery.
After the procedure, it is recommended to limit physical activity for several days.
Special attention should be paid to the appearance of oral bleeding, vomiting, increased body temperature. In all such cases, a medical consultation is required.
