Our extensive expertise delivers the highest quality of treatment in the bariatric field while keeping the highest level of patient care. We care about finding ways to make you feel better, and we are with you along your weight-loss journey – even when you are back home.
Bariatrics encompasses different spheres of medicine, and that’s why we use a multidisciplinary approach: within our Obesity Treatment Centre, you will find our Bariatric and Metabolic Clinic, Dietetics and Nutrition Clinic, Clinical Psychology Clinic, Diabetology Clinic, Cardiology Clinic, and Physiotherapy Clinic.
Thanks to our expertise and state-of-the-art facilities, we can offer cutting-edge procedures in the bariatric field, including endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), performed by Dr. Artur Rainer, MD, and Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ileal Bypass with Sleeve (SADI-S).
No waiting list for your weight-loss procedure
We know that international patients are on waiting lists for a bariatric procedure for months, if not years, in their home country. But we also understand that for some patients this is not an option. KCM Clinic gives you the possibility to choose the date you prefer for your procedure. When you first contact us for a consultation, our patient coordinators will give you all the necessary information about the procedure and will do their best to accommodate your request as to when you’d like to visit us. Get in touch anytime!
Convenient package prices on all weight-loss procedures
Patients who travel overseas for a procedure may do so for cost reasons. It’s no secret that treatments and procedures have a lower cost in Poland compared to the UK, the US, or Australia. The reason is simple: living and labour costs are lower so we are able to offer competitive prices on all our treatments while maintaining the highest level of medical care.
Specifically catered to patients travelling from abroad, our package prices include not only the treatment but also airport or train station pick-up and drop-off as well as hospital or hotel stay, when needed.
Follow-ups and aftercare when you’re back home
Weight-loss procedures entail a great deal of aftercare and follow ups after the procedure itself has been performed. As we remind all our patients, a bariatric procedure should be considered a help to a journey that you have already committed to embarking on.
At the same time, we want to be by your side even once you’re back home. We will keep tabs on your progress and health for a few years after your discharge because we care about your recovery and well-being! Our Weight Loss Surgery Poland Facebook group is also there for you to receive support from fellow patients and share your story or advice. This has been very helpful and insightful for our patients and you will be invited to join as well!
What weight-loss procedures does KCM Clinic offer?
At KCM Clinic you will find the whole gamut of weight-loss surgeries. If you already had a weight-loss procedure, you might need a revision or a conversion (e.g. gastric band to gastric sleeve or bypass), and we can assist you with this as well. Below, we are going to give you an overview of the weight-loss procedures that our specialists from the Obesity Treatment Centre at KCM Clinic perform.
Sleeve gastrectomy (Gastric sleeve)
A gastric sleeve is an effective bariatric procedure that involves reducing the size of your stomach to help you feel full sooner. Around 75-80% of the stomach is removed and the procedure is non-reversible. Only the size of the stomach is altered, not its functions. Gastric sleeve surgery is often the most recommended procedure due to its low complication rates and high effectiveness (patients lose 30-40% of their body weight over 1 or 2 years after surgery).
Gastric bypass
Gastric bypass, also known as Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, is a weight-loss surgery that alters your stomach to help you consume less food. The procedure involves dividing the stomach into a small pouch and rearranging the small intestine. This pouch is connected directly to your small intestine, speeding up absorption and digestion.
Mini gastric bypass
Mini gastric bypass is a surgery that combines elements of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and the gastric sleeve. During surgery, the upper part of the stomach is formed into a sleeve-shaped tube (gastric sleeve), which is then connected to the loop of the small intestine. The aim of the procedure is to reduce the absorption of calories.
Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty
One of the most innovative bariatric procedures, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) is a non-surgical procedure that makes your stomach smaller without any incisions. The doctor performs the procedure using an endoscope and a suturing device, stitching parts of the stomach walls together from the inside. This way, the stomach will be reduced to one third of its original size. KCM Clinic prides itself in being one of the few centres in Europe to offer this treatment thanks to Dr. Artur Rainer, MD, specialist in General Surgery and Gastroenterology.
Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ileal Bypass with Sleeve (SADI-S)
Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ileal Bypass with Sleeve, commonly referred to as SADI-S, is basically a variant of duodenal switch surgery, which combines a gastric bypass with a gastric sleeve. This means that first, part of the stomach is removed (sleeve gastrectomy), and later, the intestine just below the stomach is reattached about 2 metres down, bypassing the section of the bowel that absorbs most of the nutrients and calories. One of the biggest benefits of SADI-S is that, contrary to duodenal switch surgery, only a single surgical anastomosis (or duodeno-ileal bypass) is made.
Intragastric Balloon
An intragastric balloon is a medical device that is inserted into your stomach through your mouth. The procedure is therefore incisionless and non-surgical. A deflated balloon is placed in your stomach, which will be then filled up with a saline solution. By occupying a large part of your stomach, the gastric balloon will help you feel full sooner and consume less food. The balloon needs to be removed after 6 or 12 months and is typically recommended to patients who need to lose some weight before a more invasive bariatric procedure.
