The Laryngology Clinic deals with diagnostics, treatment and qualification for surgical procedures performed as part of the Laryngology Department.

Endoscopic sinus surgery is an alternative to the traditional highly invasive method. Currently, in laryngology, classic methods are being abandoned in favour of FESS (FESS, i.e. functional-endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses).

Surgery using a microscope and an endoscope allows for a minimally invasive widening of the sinus openings so that the secretions can easily escape from them. Endoscopic surgery can stop the mucosal hyperplasia process and thus protect us from more serious complications. Such surgery gives a chance to improve the condition of the sinuses, and at the same time leaves no visible scars, because it is performed inside the nose. The procedure is aimed at restoring the normal patency of the sinus opening. The operation is performed under general anesthesia. The operator uses an operating endoscope and thus can follow the image on the monitor. Special forceps widen the natural connections of the paranasal sinuses with the nasal cavities. This improves the functioning of the sinuses.

In a situation where the symptoms of paranasal sinusitis persist despite pharmacological treatment, endoscopic examination of the nose should be performed, which allows the doctor to assess the condition of the nasal cavity and the opening of the sinuses. In each case, it is also necessary to perform a computed tomography examination, which allows you to accurately assess the condition of the sinuses and plan the operation.

Immediately after the surgery, the patient experiences a blocked nose feeling caused by intra-nasal dressings. In most cases, dressings are removed 24 hours after surgery.
