Orthopaedic Department at KCM Clinic is focused on the treatment of injuries and disorders of your joints and their associated soft tissues (your ligaments, nerves and muscles). Our specialist doctors deal with diagnostics, treatment, qualification for surgical procedures and postoperative care of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system: the skeleton, ligament and joint system, spine, and damage to muscles, nerves and vessels.

Orthopedics, also called orthopedic surgery, is a medical specialty concerned with the preservation and restoration of function of the skeletal system and its associated structures, i.e., spinal and other bones, muscles and joints.

There are many factors (external and internal) that can cause damage to your musculoskeletal system, causing pain and swelling in turn. The most common are traumatic injuries (often incurred during contact sport), and degenerative joint conditions such as arthritis, which cause deterioration which happens over period of time.

Orthopaedic surgeons at our Orthopaedic Department are leading authorities in hip and knee replacement surgery, having an astonishing experience of more than 4.500 successful joint replacement surgeries.     In addition to pre- and post-operative diagnosis and treatment, doctors also qualify for surgical procedures performed as part of our Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Locomotor System.

    We perform highly specialised surgical procedures:

    • Hip and knee endoprosthesis implantation operations
    • Post-traumatic reconstruction of cruciate ligaments with titanium and bio-absorbable implants
    • Arthroscopy of joints
    • Corrective operations for the foot and hand: carpal tunnel, hammer finger, hallux valgus, snapping finger, hand ganglions, Morton’s neuromatosis, Dupuytren’s contracture, hand joint synovectomy, tendon release

    How to prepare for a stay in our hospital?

    The duration of illness and stay in any hospital is inherently stressful and therefore it is important to limit its duration to the necessary minimum. All patients presenting for surgery are asked to follow the following rules:

    • The patient is informed about the dates of all required examinations of the procedure in the Hospital Registration
    • The patient should arrive at the hospital on time and on time, on the date agreed during the qualification visit or provided by the Hospital Registration employee
    • Patients who have been informed that the date of the surgery is on the same day as the date of admission are asked to come to the hospital on an empty stomach (eating and drinking is not allowed 6 hours before the scheduled date of surgery. In exceptional cases, with consent or on request) physician, other, individually prepared procedures are possible.

    What should the patient have with him on the day of the procedure?

    • referral to the hospital
    • documents necessary to complete the formalities related to admission to the hospital (ID card, valid insurance card, in the case of retirees and pensioners, a pensioner card
    • if it is necessary to issue a form of incapacity for work – the employer’s tax identification number
    • all test results, X-ray pictures, etc., discharge cards and other medical documents,
      patients suffering from other diseases are asked to take all the medications used in their original packaging
    • of course, it is necessary to bring to the hospital: personal toiletries, comfortable footwear for a change, pajamas, bathrobe and a towel

    Are the treatments performed under the National Health Fund?

    The National Health Fund refunds only some of the procedures performed in our department.
